A central part of every day; teachers and children take time to prepare lunch settings, serve one another and share conversation and experiences whilst we eat our packed lunches. Fresh fruit and a selection of vegetables and snacks are available to students throughout the day.
There are regular opportunities for our older students to work in the kitchen, cooking for the whole school community as part of their practical work. Students curate and plan the menu’s through regular feedback to the kitchen and through student led surveys about food, tastes and preferences.
Fresh ingredients are used wherever possible and the children are often involved in the preparation and cooking process. We grow all manner of herbs, fruits and vegetables in our garden and paddocks for use in our snacks and lunches.
Originally from the Scottish Borders, Kisha has spent many years cooking up feasts as both a restaurant chef and community worker. We are thrilled to welcome her and excited to work together on the development of our garden-to-table programme.
